Linda Chen and Cathy Harbin to lead the organization’s business development
Daytona Beach, Florida (Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022) – The Legends of the LPGA (Legends) announces the hiring of two golf industry veterans to lead the organization’s business development. Linda Chen, a member of the Legends Board of Directors, will take on the role of Executive Director of Business Development and Cathy Harbin will join the Legends as the Executive Director of Business Operations.
Cathy Johnston-Forbes, President of the Legends, stated, “The Legends of the LPGA is fortunate to have Linda and Cathy to lead us in working to reach our full potential as a successful women’s senior tour. Their combined knowledge and expertise in both the golf and business worlds will prove invaluable to us. Linda and Cathy will help implement our strategy of giving our members not only competitive playing opportunities but also other viable opportunities to continue to promote The Legends of the LPGA and the game of golf. We are excited to watch as they lead us into the future”.
Chen, who joined the Legends Board in 2020, began her career in golf as a player. She competed on the LPGA’s developmental tour in the mid-90s and served as tournament director for the Ginn Open in Orlando from 2006-2008. Over the past decade, Chen has served in various roles in the healthcare industry. “It is an honor and privilege to advance the mission of the Legends of the LPGA, as I have seen first-hand the positive influence and power these women have on communities and other women,” Chen said.
Harbin brings more than 30 years of operational expertise within the golf industry to her new role. A PGA Member since 1992, Harbin is also a member of the LPGA, the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) and Vice President of the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA). Harbin is one of 13 women to achieve the PGA of America’s highest distinction of Master Professionals and has held such prominent operational positions as General Manager at the World Golf Village Golf Courses and Vice President of Golf at ClubCorp. She is a golf course owner and has perfected training and operational systems that create consistency and world-class experiences.
Chen and Harbin have already started in their new roles, building on the established growth of the Legends of the LPGA over the past few years. Despite the lingering effects of the global pandemic that took its toll on the Legends of the LPGA, the organization is working towards an active schedule for 2022 and beyond. “Legends players still have lots of great golf in them and it is our responsibility to provide someplace to play and something to play for,” Harbin said.
