LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame Member Juli Inkster Returns to
The Meadows at Mystic Lake for the 2nd Annual Land O’Lakes Legends Classic
(Prior Lake, Minn. – June 1, 2022) – Field commitments for the 2nd annual Land O’Lakes Legends Classic presented by The Meadows at Mystic Lake, an official tournament on the Legends of the LPGA schedule, are rolling in as the deadline for entries officially closes July 11. Defending champion Juli Inkster wasted no time in firming up her return to the greater Minneapolis area; she’s been on the evolving roster since tournament organizers announced the event’s return earlier this year.
“I really enjoyed playing here last year,” says Inkster, a 31-time LPGA Tour champion with seven major championship titles to her credit. “I love this part of the country.” Inkster is set to defend at The Meadows at Mystic Lake on Saturday and Sunday, August 13-14, in a 36-hole tournament that will feature a field of 40 Legends of the LPGA age 45+. There is no cut. Four top senior women amateurs from the region playing alongside the Legends will round out the field of 44.
A member of the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame, Inkster played in nine Solheim Cup competitions from 2000-2011 and served as captain of the American team in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Her major championship titles include two U.S. Women’s Open wins in 1999 and 2002. Inkster remains one of only five women to have won the U.S. Women’s Amateur three years in a row (1980, 1981, and 1982). Recently, the USGA named Inkster as the recipient of the 2022 Bob Jones Award, the Association’s highest honor awarded for character, respect, and sportsmanship in the game of golf.
“I was thrilled to win the first Land O’Lakes Legends Classic last year,” says Inkster. “The course was in fabulous shape, and it was fun to play. I am excited to return to The Meadows and defend.”
