(PRIOR LAKE, MN – August 6, 2021) – Seven-time LPGA Tour champion Michelle McGann fired an opening round 67 to take a one shot lead over LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famer Juli Inkster and four-time Legends champion Christa Johnson at the inaugural Land O’ Lakes Legends Classic at Mystic Lake.
McGann rattled off four consecutive birdies on holes 6-9 to make the turn in 32, picking up one more birdie on the par 4 13th to snag the lead. Johnson made three birdies in her final four holes to pull within one of McGann; Inkster birdied the par 5 18th to match Johnson’s score of 68 and enter today’s final round at T2.
Five Legends shot 70 and are within striking distance at three shots back, among them 13-time LPGA Tour champion Rosie Jones who also has eight wins on the Legends of the LPGA. Tournament host and four-time Legends champion Michele Redman, a Minnesota native, also carded a 70, along with Laura Diaz, Susie Redman and Kris Tschetter.
McGann is seeking her first win on the Legends of the LPGA since joining in 2015.
