The Legends Tour, official senior tour of the LPGA, has announced that it will return to the Greater Seattle Area in 2020 for the third annual Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup.
The event will be held May 27-30, returning to White Horse Golf Club and Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort in Kingston, Wash.
“It is an honor to welcome the Legends of the LPGA back to White Horse and our premier resort for the third consecutive year of the Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup,” said Irene Carper, chief operating officer of Port Madison Enterprises-Clearwater Casino Resort.
“These women are incredible golfers, but equally incredible people,” Carper added. “Our community and this area’s many golf fans love to watch them play and we are proud to host the Legends once again.”
The 36-hole stroke-play event will feature a field size of 32 Legends professionals who will compete for a purse of $175,000.
The tournament pro-am is set for a 11:00 a.m. shotgun start on May 28, with official tournament rounds starting at 10 a.m., on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.
LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame member Juli Inkster hopes to defend her title at the 2020 event. The three-time U.S. Solheim Cup captain recorded rounds of 65-66 at the 2019 event to win by four shots at 15-under par. Great Britain’s Trish Johnson, who won in 2018, finished tied for third.
“Having the LPGA Legends play our course is truly special,” said Bruce Christy, general manager/head professional at White Horse Golf Club.
“Our team takes great pride in preparing for this event and we look forward to having these LPGA Legends return in May 2020,” added Christy. “This is a beautiful property that seriously tests the terrific shot-making skills of these players and we can’t wait to see another exciting finish take place in 2020.”
In addition to 32 LPGA Legends, the tournament field will once again include four senior women amateurs, age 45-over. Two top amateurs currently committed are Karen Darrington of Boise, Idaho, the 2019 Idaho Senior Women’s Amateur champion, and Canadian Kim Carrington of Calgary, Alberta, the 2019 Senior Women’s Alberta champion.
A highlight for local women players will be the Kaiser Permanente Women’s Amateur team event, set for May 27. The two-player teams posting the lowest gross and net team score will earn spots in the Legends Tour’s official pro-am tournament on Thursday, May 28.
Cost for the amateur team event is $125 per player, which includes golf, cart, breakfast, lunch, a gift bag, awards reception and eight complementary tickets to the professional tournament. Amateurs may register at https://www.thelegendstour.com/kaiser-permanente-womens-scramble.
